The Lord Is Our Righteousness
I have good news. Jesus is the answer to our greatest need - salvation. We cannot accomplish it on our own. The book of Jeremiah is full of stern warnings of what will happen if his people continue to turn from God’s commands. He has challenged who and what they are following by declaring the heart is wicked and cannot be trusted. He has cursed anyone who trusts in man and turns away from the Lord. The outlook seems bleak. Yet there are fragments of hope and a promise of a future. God promises blessing to those who trust in the Lord and salvation to those who follow him. God says that this salvation will come by a righteous Branch and will be called The Lord is our righteousness. That is Jesus! He was the hope of Israel and he is our hope.
