Judgement and Hope
I have good news. Although our sin is great, God’s grace is greater. The book of Isaiah tells of God’s judgment against sinful people and the picture he paints seems very bleak. However, there is a scarlet thread of hope woven throughout it. While the people’s hearts are dull and they lack understanding, God tells them of a baby to be born of a virgin named Immanuel. As the people are warned of a pending invasion that will shatter them, God tells them this child will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. Jesus is everything described by Isaiah! He is everything we need. In Him is light, life and truth. He is the thread of hope woven throughout the Bible.
