Preach The Word
I have good news. God has bestowed on us a very great and humbling task. We are to preach the Word. Paul’s second letter to Timothy is widely accepted as his last letter. Resigned to his impending death, Paul encourages his young disciple to remain steadfast to the end. Paul wasn’t ashamed of the gospel. His preaching of the gospel resulted in his imprisonment, but in spite of that he wanted Timothy to be bold in his preaching. Paul knew the hope that came from a firm belief in the truth of God’s word. Paul knew that the word of God is special, unique, powerful —because it’s breathed out by God. The Word of God is life-giving: it equips, exhorts, rebukes, corrects and completes the one who clings to it. Jesus was faithful to God’s word to the very end. And it’s his faithfulness that makes it possible for us to enjoy fellowship with God.
