The Way

I have good news. God has made a way for us to know Him and He has made a way for us to have life. Left on our own we will never accomplish either. Proverbs 14:12 says “there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.” We’ve seen this with Israel through several generations. They stumble and struggle through life. Instead of obeying God‘s commands, they try things their own way. The end is brokenness, hurt, betrayal, and judgment. In Proverbs 16:3 Solomon lays out a different plan - a different way to do life. “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” When we commit our work to the Lord, we can trust him with the outcome. Instead of a path leading to death, He promises that our ways will be firm. That promise is fulfilled in Jesus. He is the way, the truth and the life. Through Him, we have access to the Father and heaven and eternal life.

Application Questions
Every week, you'll see five unique application questions. Use them to help live out what you're learning in scripture. Pray for life transformation.
- Are you wise with your words? Are they life giving or do they bring harm?
- Are you one to seek revenge when you have been wronged? How do you wait for the Lord to be the final judge?
- How do you determine what is God’s way and not simply your desire? Can it be both?
- In Romans 15:4-7, Paul says that God’s word and his people will encourage our faith journey. Have you experienced that encouragement? How can you encourage others in their faith?
- Paul mentions praying for the church at Thessalonica often. Is praying for the church a regular part of your walk with God? Spend time this week praying for your church.
That is good news.
