Sunday's Message Text: Hebrews 4:14-16

Bible Plan Readings - Week 13

START IT.

  • Have you felt like you're in a fight with temptation recently? (If not, you're either lying or un-human) What makes a boxing fight so exhausting? How are boxing fights won?

SHARE IT.

  • From Sunday's message in Hebrews 4:14-16 or the Meet Jesus Bible Reading Plan this week, what impacted you the most? Was there a word, phrase, or Bible verse that impacted you? Hint: What did you highlight

  • What is so encouraging to know Jesus "sympathizes with our weaknesses"? How does this draw people closer to Jesus?

  • Think back to the first temptation ever (Genesis 3) and the the temptation of Jesus (Luke 4). What 3 kinds of temptations were offered? How did Jesus defeat the temptations when Adam and Eve could not? Is there anything you can do to be like Jesus when temptation stares you in the face? (hint: next question)

  • How did Jesus apply the two boxing gloves of the Spirit and the Scriptures to defeat temptation? What can you learn from the situation Jesus was in? (describe the scene)

SHOW IT.

  • When have you had the most victory in defeating temptation? How did you fight it?

  • What about Jesus specifically have you declared is better than the temptation?

  • What Scripture comes to mind to help you fight temptation? Is there any step you need to take right now (even as you discuss this with your circle) to help you in the fight with a specific temptation? How can your circle help you?

  • How can you be like the LORD Jesus in helping others with their temptation?

FINAL THOUGHT

Consider voicing this prayer: "LORD Jesus, I trust your WORD when it says blessed is the one who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive a crown of life. I am in need of your help, so would you please send help, and help me to receive that help and believe you, Jesus, are better than the temptation or the trial that's coming my way. Remind me of the way you battled temptation and help to live the same way. In your name I pray, Amen."

  • How can we practically help each other this week, knowing the temptations/trials are coming? What's our next step?

MAKE FRIENDS. SHARE HOPE. FOLLOW JESUS. TOGETHER.
